She was Sydney Barstow in Alias, and you’ve seen her kicking ass. Up until 2018, John Miller, an American businessman, was Ben Affleck‘s girlfriend. Jennifer Garner became an overnight success thanks to her portrayal as secret agent Sydney Barstow in the television series Alias, but she had a difficult time getting there. Before J.J. Abrams hand picked the girl next door, who came from a devout religious family, to play the lead role in his CIA thriller and changed her life, she experimented in small roles in theater, television, and film.
But she’s still a humble family girl and when they were married, Ben Affleck is quoted as saying “she has no idea how beautiful she is.”
Her parents, an English teacher and a chemical engineer, moved the family from Houston, where she was born, to Princeton and Charleston before she went to college in Ohio. She relocated to New York after graduation to pursue a career in theater acting, where she was cast in tiny roles on series including Spin City, Law & Order, and Felicity. She initially met Scott Foley, her first husband, on the Felicity set. They got married in 2000, but the marriage disintegrated in 2003, just as her notoriety was beginning to grow.
Jennifer was approached by Felicity creator J.J. Abrams in 2001 to try out for his upcoming program Alias. Garner, who had never in her life punched anyone, trained in martial arts before being cast as his leading woman and an undercover CIA agent.
When the program debuted in September 2001, it became a huge hit, and Garner quickly won over both fans and critics. From 2002 through 2005, she received four consecutive Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama. 2002 saw her victory.
The actress’s nice girl image was put to the test by the part, and it also gave her access to new chances, including the 2003 superhero smash Daredevil. Together with her future husband Affleck, she portrayed Elektra Natchios in the critically acclaimed but financially successful movie Elektra.
Before beginning a romance with Affleck in 2004, Jennifer dated Alias co-star Michael Vartan for a year after her breakup with Foley. They got married on June 29, 2005, while she was pregnant with their first child, nine months after they started dating. Their daughter, Violet, was born on December 1, 2005, and her pregnancy was shown in the sixth and final season of the television series Alias.
However, in 2018, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner separated.
She went on to star in expensive studio movies like 13 Going on 30 and The Kingdom, but she didn’t have any more success on the box office until she played the lead in the independent movie Juno in 2007. The little film’s surprise success was attributed to the Oscar buzz around its writer, former stripper Diablo Cody. Fans flocked to see the movie Cody after it won Best Original Screenplay at the awards that year.
She keeps making movie appearances but otherwise stays out of the spotlight. Seraphina was born on January 6, 2009, and she and Affleck keep their relationship and two kids private from the media, which is very different from Ben’s connection with Jennifer Lopez before her.
