Who Is Holly Madison
In the eyes of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, Holly Madison was the curvy blonde needle in the curvy blond haystack. Though their relationship would come to an end, the television exposure Madison got from co-starring in the hit series The Girls Next Door would catapult her from just another beauty on the arm of a millionaire to an iconic Playboy personality.
American model Holly Madison has a net worth of $18 million dollars, as of 2020.
Getting On The List
Although her femme-bot qualities do draw suspicion, Madison was actually born to real human parents in Oregon on December 23, 1979. At an early age, her family relocated to Alaska, which she lovingly calls home. Madison attended Portland State University for two years before seeking out the sunnier skies of California, where she enrolled in Loyola Marymount University.
As fabulous as L.A. life was, it was equally expensive. To earn a paycheck, Madison found jobs emphasizing her physical bounty as a Hawaiian Tropic model and as a roller-skating waitress at Hooters. Working in Santa Monica, Madison heard tell of the legendary parties held at the nearby Playboy mansion she would soon be no stranger to. After being spotted by Hefner’s friend at a Hawaiian Tropic gig, she got her name on the guest list.
After a year of frequenting the countless events at the Hef’s luxurious abode, Holly finally caught the eye of the elusive Playboy millionaire and, despite the half-century age gap, they discovered they had much in common. Forgoing all the conventional dating customs, Hefner asked Madison to move in with him after just one date. Him and six of his other girlfriends.
Bleaching her naturally brunette hair wasn’t enough for Madison to keep pace in the Playboy world. To obtain the kind of curves Sir Mix-A-Lot would rap about, Madison turned to the knife. Utilizing the wonders of plastic surgery, she went from an A-cup to an eye-popping D, giving her the life-size Barbie proportions she’s known for today. Madison later balanced out the extra weight of her front side by slimming down her nose in the common L.A. tradition of rhinoplasty.
And Then There Were Three
With her new look and charming personality, Madison didn’t have to vie for Hefner’s affections for long as the harem of seven was quickly whittled down to just her and Bridget Marquardt (later to be joined by Kendra Wilkinson), with Madison taking on the proud title of Number One Girlfriend.
As Hefner’s leading girl, Madison became active with appearances on TV shows (taking MTV Cribs for a tour of the mansion), the occasional bad film (Scary Movie 4) and even spent some time as a photo editor for Playboy magazine. Her presence never won much lasting attention until the trio of beauties inspired Hefner to showcase his favorite girls. But not through his famous magazine.
With the avalanching popularity of reality television came The Girls Next Door, a show providing a peek into the oft-coveted life in the Playboy mansion. The stunningly sexy girls won over much attention from E! audiences and the show was renewed season after season. But all good things come to an end—Hollywood relationships sooner than most.
After seven years without a ring on her finger, Madison expressed her distress over Hefner’s unwillingness to marry, stating, “I want to be with somebody I can have more of a future with eventually. Hef and I can’t get married and have kids…so it was fun while it lasted.” The pair split up in October 2008.
Soon after she ended her relationship, Madison briefly dated street magician Criss Angel and had an even shorter stint with Good Charlotte guitarist Benji Madden. As she continued to sort through the dredges of Hollywood bachelors, Madison continued to build her still blossoming career.
Moving on, Madison began headlining her own burlesque show, Peepshow, on the Las Vegas strip while documenting all of her Sin City escapades in another E! reality show, Holly’s World. Madison may have once been Hugh Hefner’s main squeeze, but now she’s out making a name for herself and trying to find love on the way.
Defining Quote “I know Hef doesn’t like it when I walk around naked in the house, ‘cause he’s a little more old-fashioned, sometimes, than people think. But you tend to forget you’re naked when you’ve been shooting naked all day.”
