About Finn Wolfhard

Finn Wolfhard is a Canadian actor, director, musician, and screenwriter. He began his acting career in the early 2010s and quickly rose to prominence when he became a main cast member of the Netflix series Stranger Things. For his outstanding performance, he also received a Screen Actors Guild Award out of three nominations.

He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia on December 23, 2002. He’s of German, Jewish, and French descent. Finn is the second child of Eric, a researcher on aboriginal land claims, and Mary Wolfhard, an artist at a kids clothes brand Dormouse Design. He has an older brother, Nick, who is also an actor.

Since the late 2000s, Finn has been attending the Catholic school in Vancouver. He became interested in acting when he was just ten years old. To improve his acting skills, he took part in various acting classes and theatres. His first acting job came from Craigslist, which was later followed by a role in The CW series The 100. Portraying the small role of Zoran marked his acting and television debut. In late 2014, he starred in another popular show – Supernatural, where he played the role of Jordie Pinsky.

Canadian actor, musician, screenwriter, and director Finn Wolfhard has an estimated net worth of $4 million dollars, as of 2023. Wolfhard is best known for his role as Mike Wheeler in the Netflix series Stranger Things.

In 2016, Wolfhard was announced as the leading cast member of the forthcoming Netflix series Stranger Things. He has been playing the main role of Mike Wheeler ever since then, a role for which he auditioned via video after he saw an open casting call. The Netflix show marked the breakthrough of the young actor who at the time of the shooting was just fourteen years old.

Besides bringing him international fame and making him very rich for his age. The role of Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things also earned him a lot of awards and nominations. Concurrently with filming the show, he also starred in many other projects, including Lip Sync Battle and Carmen San Diego.

He starred in the interactive television special of the latter dubbed as To Steal or Not to Steal. His most recent television appearances were in the series JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales and Home Movie: The Princess Blade. Recently, he was announced as the main cast member of the upcoming show NEW-GEN which is expected to bring good fortune to the skilled actor.

After making his film debut in the short films Aftermath and The Resurrection from 2013, in 2017 he joined the cast of the box-office hit It. He later reprised his role of (young) Richie Tozier in the sequel It: Chapter Two, and worked in other projects – Dog Days, The Goldfinch, The Addams Family, and The Turning. More recently, he appeared in Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Pinocchio is currently in post-production.

Wolfhard’s Total Net Worth

While Finn Wolfhard has earned most his income from his role as Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things, that is likely to change as Wolfhard transitions from television acting into film.

Wolfhard earned $80,000 for season one of Strange Things with a $10,000 per episode salary. For season two of the show, he was paid $30,000 per episode, resulting in total season earnings of $270,000. His per episode pay then jumped by more than eight times after a renegotiation based on the incredible success of the show.

For season three Wolfhard was paid a per episode salary of $250,000, or $2 million for the season. That salary amount is expected to have been kept the same for the seasons since as it had been inked at the ‘after season two renegotiation’, meaning that it will likely stay at that rate until the end of season five. For season four, Wolfhard earned $2.25 million as it had a total of 9 episodes. Therefore, in total, Finn Wolfhard has earned $4.6 million from Stranger Things, as of the end of season four.

Many of his TV appearances and performances go unpaid for actors making a name for them self, for example his TV appearances and interviews are done to promote the series that he is a part of and other roles have only paid small sums. In fact, the only high paying movie role that he has earned so far, was $500,000 for his role as Trevor in Ghostbusters: Afterlife. As well as around $1 million from his appearances in It and IT: Chapter 2.

Still it all adds up and, in total, it is likely that Wolfhard has had career earnings of around $8 million dollars when factoring in his endorsements and, to a far lesser extent, his music. Of that amount, around $1 million is expected to have been paid in business related costs. The remainder, $7 million, will have been taxed at around 45% as Wolfhard as he has lived and worked between California, United States and Vancouver, Canada. After tax, it is estimated that his career earnings are at around $3.85 million dollars, having paid $3.15 million dollars in taxes.

Finn has never married and does not have any children. In his personal life Finn has likely spent $400,000 of his career earnings but also probably possesses assets valued at around $250,000, not including investment assets. In his investments, he may have earned investment returns of $350,000. Therefore, it is estimated that Finn Wolfhard has a net worth of around $4 million dollars.

Aside from his acting career, Wolfhard has been consistently creating music. He was the lead guitarist and vocalist, as well as the songwriter for the rock-band Calpurnia based in Vancouver. He remained with them until their disbandment in November 2019. During his four years tenure with the rock band, he was signed to the label Royal Mountain Records and toured the world. Just recently, he formed his own band titled The Aubreys. Besides the debut EP Soda and Pie, some of the hits that Finn has contributed to are “Loved One”, and “Smoke Bomb”.
