This actress has reached her stride and shows no signs of slowing down, from the broken, dishonest, and unfaithful Gabrielle Solis on ABC’s Desperate Housewives to Sophia Perez on the Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The lovely Eva Longoria was the youngest and least well-known of the four main stars of the impending hit when Desperate Housewives made its initial appearance in the fall of 2004. But it didn’t take long for the sassy and seductive Latina to surpass the fame of her other cast members, and before long, she was on the covers of fashion magazines in addition to gossip publications.
The Texas Spitfire
Longoria has strong ties to Texas. She was given the moniker “la prieta fea” (the dark ugly one) by her siblings when she was young because she identified as a “ugly duckling” and was born in Corpus Christi in 1975. She eventually received her degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where she also made a few theatrical appearances. Longoria won the title of Miss Corpus Christi USA in 1998 and the opportunity to participate in a talent competition in Los Angeles, which she also did.
Longoria made the decision to remain in Los Angeles, signed an agency, and landed her first television role in a Beverly Hills, 90210 episode in 2000. Before landing a recurring role as Isabella Brana, a former call girl on The Young and the Restless, she first landed two guest parts on daytime soap operas, The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital.
Before departing the show in 2003 to portray a detective on the primetime drama L.A. Dragnet, Longoria spent two years there. She only had the chance to appear in 10 episodes of the show, which was in its second season when it was canceled.

As Gabrielle Solis from Desperate Housewives, played by Jesse Metcalfe, a young and frequently shirtless gardener, Longoria auditioned for and was given the part in 2004. Unfortunately, there were rumors that the relationships between the actresses on the set were breaking down, and a 2005 Vanity Fair piece detailed serious conflict, competitiveness, and overall cattiness that occurred during a cover photo the women did for the publication.
Desperate Housewives received 15 Emmy nominations in July 2005, including three for Best Comedy Series Actress for Cross, Hatcher, and eventual winner Huffman, while Longoria’s contributions went unnoticed.
Longoria has attempted to transition to the big screen like the majority of television stars. She co-starred in The Sentinel in 2006 alongside Kiefer Sutherland and Michael Douglas, and she also made an appearance in Harsh Times with Christian Bale.
She appeared in Lower Learning and Over her Dead Body in 2007. Sadly, she hasn’t yet had a big box office hit with any of her movies.
Pint-Sized Stunner
Longoria has won numerous more accolades, despite the fact that she has yet to win any Emmys or have a major film blockbuster. She was ranked first on Maxim’s Hot 100 list in 2005 and 2006. She was named one of the 100 Most Influential Hispanics by People en Espaol Magazine in 2006, and she also won Person of the Year at the ALMA (American Latino Media Arts Award) Awards. She got the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Female TV Star in 2007. One of Longoria’s most peculiar “honors” was her appearance on a 75 by 110 foot magazine cover.
The massive memorial commemorating Maxim’s 100th issue was erected in the desert and was apparently visible from satellites as well as flying aircraft.
Longoria wed Parker in 2007 in Paris, where they had been together for years. Hatcher and Huffman, who co-starred on Her Housewives, were among the attendees.
However, after three years of marital happiness and discussions about starting a family, allegations that Tony was unfaithful started to surface. Eva formally filed for divorce from Parker in November 2010, albeit this was never confirmed.
However, this hot Latina has lots of chores to keep her busy and distracted from her breakup. In addition to continuing her acting career, Eva developed her own eatery, Beso, in Las Vegas, and she established Eva’s Heroes, a charity for children with disabilities, in 2006.
