Eric Himpton Holder Jr., an American lawyer who served as the 82nd Attorney General of the United States, was born on January 21, 1951. His estimated net worth is $12 million. The first African-American attorney general in American history is Eric Holder. Holder is the head of the Department of Justice and the nation’s top prosecutor in his capacity as Attorney General. Holder directs the work of the U.S. attorneys, represents the United States in court, and is the seventh in line to become president.
Eric Holder’s early life
On January 21st, 1951, Eric Holder was born in New York City. He graduated from Columbia University in 1976 with a law degree after completing his undergraduate studies there in American history. Holder began his career in the public integrity section of the U.S. Department of Justice, which looks into and prosecutes official wrongdoing at all levels of government, just after graduating from law school.
Holder is currently employed by President Barack Obama, although his cooperation with previous leaders earned him this position. Holder was appointed as an associate judge of the District of Columbia Superior Court by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. Holder was proposed by President Bill Clinton in 1993 to take on the position of US Attorney for the District of Columbia. When Clinton nominated him to be the deputy attorney general, he once again made history as the first African-American to hold this position.

Holder served as a top legal counselor on Senator Barack Obama’s presidential campaign in 2007 and was a member of the selection committee for Obama’s running mate. Holder also served as the NFL’s representative in the Covington & Burling inquiry into Michael Vick‘s allegations of dog fighting prior to becoming Attorney General. Holder has received praise for his efforts, and the National Law Journal honored him in 2008 as one of the top 50 minority attorneys in the country. Along with his wife, Dr. Sharon Malone, and their three kids, he resides in Washington, D.C.
