modest beginnings
Diane Kruger was born to working-class parents in Algermissen, Germany. Her father battled alcoholism, and as a result, the couple eventually got divorced when Diane was 13 years old. The teenager, whose addiction left a lasting impression, determined to abstain from all alcohol and drug use. Instead, she discovered ballet as a form of expression and was able to study there until being forced to give up pointe shoes and pursue another line of work due to a knee ailment.
German ballerina turned American movie star
Although Kruger’s aspirations of becoming a ballerina were abruptly crushed, she was still able to advance in her career thanks to her startlingly attractive appearance. She relocated to Paris in order to pursue modeling professionally, and she ultimately appeared on the cover of French Elle.
Despite her success, Diane opted to leave the runway in favor of acting since she didn’t like the superficiality of her new career.
