About Dave Casper

David John Casper, well known by his nick name “the Ghost” is a retired American football player who is most remembered for playing for the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League. He was an offensive lineman as well as a tight end.

American former football player Dave Casper has an estimated net worth of $3 million dollars, as of 2023. Casper has been inducted into both the College Football Hall of Fame (2012)[2] and the Pro Football Hall of Fame (2002).

Hall of Fame tight end Dave Casper received his first starting position with the Raiders in 1976, earning the moniker “The Ghost” from his teammates. With an astounding 53 catches for 691 yards and 10 touchdowns, he made his NFL debut and quickly established himself as one of the top tight ends in the league.

During his career, which began with the Raiders in Oakland in 1974 and featured stops with the Oilers and Vikings before coming to an end with the Raiders in Los Angeles in 1984, he caught 378 passes and scored 52 touchdowns. He was chosen to participate in five Pro Bowls and was recognized as All-Pro and All-AFC four years in a row.

Additionally, Casper took part in “The Holy Roller” one of the most bizarre plays in NFL history. With 10 seconds left, the Raiders were behind San Diego. Running back Pete Banaszak swung the ball toward the end zone after quarterback Ken Stabler fumbled it forward 13 yards. At the five-yard line, Casper’s foot accidentally brushed the ball, which he chased into the end zone and landed on for the go-ahead score.

The play led to the creation of a brand-new rule that forbade such ball advancement.
