The project was given to seasoned producer Mitchell Froom (Sheryl Crow, Pearl Jam, Suzanne Vega), and soon Powter, Dawson, and Froom formed a friendly creative partnership.
Commercial Achievement
“Bad Day” Daniel Powter’s debut single, was made available in Europe in 2005. It was chosen by Warner Bros. to represent them in Coca-hunt Cola’s for a song for a European advertising campaign. The song quickly gained popularity across Europe and peaked at number 5 on the pop singles charts in France, Germany, Italy, and the UK. In March 2006, a second tie-in assisted in propelling the song to the top 5 in the US. The song “Bad Day” was regularly played as the show’s closing music on results night during its fifth season.
