Daniel Oliver Hampton, a former professional football player from the United States, played defensive tackle for the Chicago Bears for twelve seasons in the National Football League between 1979 and 1990. In 2002, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. On Chicago’s WGN Radio, he currently hosts the Bears postgame show.

Dan Hampton, a defensive lineman who is now in the Hall of Fame, spent 12 seasons guarding the line of scrimmage for the Chicago Bears.

He graduated from the University of Arkansas as an All-American, and the Bears selected him in the first round of the 1979 NFL Draft.

As a rookie, Hampton made a significant defensive contribution that helped set the stage for his legendary career. In his rookie season, he had 70 tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles, and three passes defended. In his sophomore year, he outperformed that performance with 73 tackles and led the Bears with 11.5 sacks. His first of four Pro Bowl berths was also obtained by him.

Dan Hampton’s contribution to the Bears’ 1985 defense, which allowed only 198 points in 16 regular-season contests and 10 points in three postseason contests, including a dominant showing against the Patriots in Super Bowl XX, is likely to be most recalled.
