About Cote De Pablo
In 2006, she was honored with the Imagen Award for Best Supporting Actress in Television for her work in NCIS, which she received at the Imagen Foundation Awards. She was considered for the same prize in both 2008 and 2009, which she ultimately did not win. Additionally, she was put in consideration for an ALMA Award for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Television Series both in 2008 and 2009.
At the age of 15, De Pablo began her career in the entertainment industry by co-hosting several episodes of the chat show Control (1994–1995) on Univision with the aforementioned Carlos Ponce, who had previously presented Entertainment Tonight. When de Pablo was 10 years old, her mother, Maria Olga Fernández, started working at a Spanish-language television network in Miami, Florida.
De Pablo received her education at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There, she majored in music and theater and performed in a number of plays, such as And the World Goes ‘Round, The House of Bernarda Alba, Indiscretions, The Fantasticks, and A Little Night Music. De Pablo is an Academy Award winner. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theater from the institution in the year 2000.
She traveled to New York City after she graduated from college in the hopes of landing a job in the acting industry. To make ends meet, she took jobs as a server in two different restaurants: one in Manhattan and the other in Brooklyn. In the year 2000, she appeared in both the drama on Fox called The $treet and the drama on CBS called The Education of Max Bickford.
She landed roles in the New York City Public Theater, the television sitcom All My Children, and other advertisements during her acting career. In the drama “The Jury,” De Pablo portrayed the character of Marguerite Cisneros. The show only aired ten episodes, each lasting an hour, however it did not last long.
On the police procedural show NCIS, De Pablo is best recognized for her role as Ziva David, a former Israeli Mossad officer who later became an NCIS agent. During the time that she was waiting for The Mambo Kings to move ahead, she had submitted an audition through videotape. Two days after the audition was canceled, she was requested to fly to Los Angeles for a screen test.
On the episode of NCIS titled “Temptation” which was initially shown in the United States on September 23, 2008, Connie De Pablo gave a performance of a piece of the song “Last Man Standing” by Tom Waits. CBS announced on July 10, 2013, that de Pablo would be leaving NCIS for reasons that have not been divulged. However, she remained on the show long enough to finish the plot for her character Ziva David before leaving at the beginning of season 11.
Later on, during a question and answer session in 2016, de Pablo revealed that one of the reasons why she quit the program was because she was unhappy with the arc that was being written for her character and she felt that the scripts were not strong enough to convince her to continue.
In the movie “The 33,” which was released in 2014 and was based on the mining tragedy that occurred in Copiapó in 2010, de Pablo played the role of the wife of one of the miners. She also landed a role in the 2015 CBS miniseries The Dovekeepers, which was adapted from a novel written by Alice Hoffman.
It was announced in June 2015 that De Pablo and the actor Diego Serrano had ended their long-term romance. The couple had been dating for a long time. A post written by Matt Mitovich for TVLine in April 2016 provided confirmation of de Pablo’s return to series television.
Deadline made the announcement on August 28, 2018, that de Pablo and Michael Weatherly, who previously worked together on NCIS, would be the executive producers of the new CBS detective drama MIA, which was written by Shepard Boucher.
In the season 16 episode titled “She” that aired in 2019, it was revealed that Ziva is still alive but has been hiding off-screen for the past three years. In the very last scene of the season 16 finale, which aired on May 21, 2019, De Pablo made an unexpected and unannounced return to the show. The scene in question was the one in which Ziva visits Gibbs in the basement to warn him that there is a threat to his life. As part of de Pablo’s ongoing plot, the show is producers have stated that she will make an appearance in the first two episodes of the 17th season of the show, as well as in the tenth and eleventh episodes of that season.
