About Cory Monteith
When viewers first heard of a new musical series about a high school glee club, it seemed like an implausible success story. However, Glee went on to become a great success and gain a following among both tweens and adults. It also delivered a fresh batch of young rising talents, among them an obscure Canadian actor by the name of Cory Monteith.
Rebellious Past
Acting didn’t come naturally to Cory Allan Monteith, like it did for most individuals in his field of work. The singer/actor from Canada admitted that he began to rebel in ninth grade by drinking and committing misdemeanor offenses. He had long known that school wasn’t for him. He experimented with a variety of odd occupations before deciding that acting was his actual calling, working as everything from a roofer to a Wal-Mart greeter.
Beginning in 2004, he began getting modest recurring appearances on shows including Stargate Atlantis, Supernatural, and Smallville.
Prior to landing recurring roles in Kyle XY and the brief-lived MTV series Kaya in 2007, he received a main part in the made-for-TV film Killer Bash.
Back To School
But it wasn’t until he was 27 and two years later that he finally got his big break. A musical comedy series portraying the antics of a high school glee club was a risk taken by FOX. The young, singing-dancing ensemble cast of the television program Glee quickly rose to fame after its September 2009 premiere. The most popular student and quarterback of the football team, Monteith played a troubled heartthrob who was also a member of the less-than-glamorous glee club.
There is little question about Monteith’s popularity in real life. Lea Michele, his Glee co-star, and Taylor Swift, the rising star of the country music scene, were among the attractive starlets he was reported to be dating. In terms of his work, he will next be seen with Disney star Selena Gomez in the romantic comedy Monte Carlo. But Cory has other muscles he wants to exercise besides his acting prowess and boy-next-door looks.
He has acknowledged a desire to release a solo album, just like Michele did.
