The second child of physician William Egglesfield and Kathleen (née Dineen) Egglesfield, Egglesfield was born in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He has an Irish mother. Sean, the younger brother, and Kerry, the older sister, are his two siblings. He was raised in a Catholic family.
He is well-known for his performances as Evan Parks on The Client List, Auggie Kirkpatrick on The CW’s short-lived drama series Melrose Place, and Josh Madden in the long-running soap opera All My Children.
Egglesfield started modeling to pay for medical school. He entered a contest at a friend’s advice and won, quitting medicine to pursue modeling. He has contracts with DNA Model Management in New York City and the Beatrice Model agency in Milan, Italy. Before beginning his acting career, he worked as a model for brands like Versace, Calvin Klein, and Armani.
Egglesfield began appearing as a guest star on television shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The $treet, Gilmore Girls, Charmed, and Nip/Tuck after completing theater school.
