About Charlie Robison
Charles Fitzgerald Robison, a retired American country music singer-songwriter who was born on September 1st, 1964, is thought to be worth $5 million. Sixth-generation Texan Charlie Robison was raised on his family’s ranch in the sleepy town of Bandera (pop. 941). He and his brother Bruce visited the neighborhood supermarket when he was just five years old, and he made their first record purchase: Jimi Hendrix and Creedance Clearwater Revival.
Aat seven, Robison remembers another pivotal event. “I was watching Dean Martin on television,” Charlie recalls. “He was wearing a beautiful tuxedo, holding a drink, surrounded by girls. I knew my family worked extremely hard for almost no money. When I saw Dean Martin, I thought, ‘That’s the way to do it!'”
His brother, Bruce Robison, and his sister, Robyn Ludwick, are also singer-songwriters.
In talking about music, he explains, “I never ‘got into’ country,” he says, “I didn’t have to. It was always around me. It was part of me- listening to Willie Nelson, Doug Sahm, Linda Ronstadt, and going to see singers like Johnny Bush three or four times a week in juke joints and honky-tonks.” His mom was a bartender at various watering holes, even managed a club, The Purple Cow, for a while.
He and his brother Bruce joined a band when he was 15 years old. Charlie picked up the drums because Bruce played bass and their pal played guitar. They performed at high school dances and rodeos. Later, he shifted to playing guitar and singing, obtained consistent employment with touring bands, and became accustomed to the limelight.
Charlie went solo in 1995 and released the critically acclaimed independent album Bandera. After that, he signed with a major label and released an album that carried him in an uncomfortably commercial direction. He is content with his artistic independence now that he has signed with Sony’s Lucky Dog label. Life of the Party was his debut album.
In 2014, Charlie Robison and Brooks Kieschnick, a former MLB player, opened Alamo Icehouse in San Antonio, Texas. Charlie Robison’s net worth is anticipated to be at $5 million as of 2023.
