It seems like one of the requirements for being a celebrity is that you have to have a certain amount of plastic surgery done. Almost no one in Hollywood is completely natural. It’s always been that way. Back in the day, no one ever talked about it. There might have been a lot of speculation about what a particular actress had gotten done, but you could rest assured they wouldn’t ever confirm it.
These days, celebrities are a lot more open about it. Cosmetic procedures often get addressed in interviews, and women no longer feel like it has to be something shameful or something they’re secretive about. They go under the knife because it makes them feel better and more confident, and there’s definitely nothing wrong with that. We’ve rounded up 17 celebrities who opened up about getting plastic surgery — their experiences, happiness with their results, and the occasional regret.
17. Kaley Cuoco
Kaley Cuoco plays the stereotypical beautiful blond next door on The Big Bang Theory. In the sitcom, she’s naturally gorgeous with a bangin’ body — the perfect juxtaposition to the science nerds who live and hang out across the hall. But in reality, it’s not all quite so natural. Kaley (who’s currently one of the highest paid actresses on TV) admitted to Cosmopolitan that the boob job she had in 2004 was “the best decision she ever made.” She was also really open with Women’s Health about her nose job, and the fillers she gets in her neck to correct lines she’s had there “since [she] was like 12.”
16. Stassi Schroeder
Stassi Schroeder made national headlines recently when she shared some photos from the aftermath of a 2015 procedure to reduce and lift her breasts. She told Page Six that the procedure, as well as a chin implant she had at 18, were “the best things [she] ever did for herself.” She also went on to say that she’s contemplating an even more drastic reduction at some point: “I would get another breast reduction even, I’ve always fantasized about being someone with no boobs. You can wear whatever you want.” While she was at it, she called out the rest of her castmates on Vanderpump Rules, saying that not one of them was all-natural.
15. Courteney Cox
After Friends went off the air in 2004, Courteney Cox started stepping out looking a little bit different. In a rash attempt to stop aging, the actress had begun injecting fillers in her face, neck, and décolletage. While she was pretty hush-hush about it back then, she’s been much more open about her decisions, and her change of heart, these days. “I’ve had all my fillers dissolved. I’m as natural as I can be. I feel better because I look like myself.” she said. “I now look more like the person that I was. I hope I do. Things are going to change. Everything’s going to drop. I was trying to make it not drop, but that made me look fake. You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles – they’re smile lines. I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realize that fillers are not my friend.”
14. Tara Reid
It’s no secret to any Hollywood watcher that Tara Reid has had some serious work done. In 2004, the American Pie star had a breast augmentation done as well as some liposuction that ended up getting seriously botched. She told CBS News, “I had a hernia, this huge bump next to my bellybutton. As a result, I couldn’t wear a bikini. I lost a lot of work.” In 2006, she went under the knife again in order to correct some of the bad results of the earlier procedures. She looks a lot better these days, but (shockingly) still doesn’t manage to get much work. Maybe it’s not just the plastic surgery that’s the issue.
13. Iggy Azalea
There’s a lot of speculation surrounding the plastic surgery that Iggy Azalea has or has not had done. Looking at old pictures of her next to more recent ones, it seems likely that she’s had both a nose job and her chin shaved down. She’s only ever confirmed the nose job, giving her plastic surgeon a public shout-out for “his fabulous work.” She also told Vogue back in 2015 that she’d gotten breast implants. “I did change something: four months ago, I got bigger boobs! I’d thought about it my entire life,” the singer admitted.
12. Heidi Montag
Heidi Montag’s plastic surgery endeavors were basically national news. The former reality star had almost a dozen surgeries done in one day: there were the breast implants, as well as the nose job, the fat injections in her lips, and having her ears pinned back. The entire process, from initial doctors’ appointments to the horrible recovery process, was all documented on The Hills, and in 2013, she went back to have her breasts reduced (the size F implants she had were “falling through the skin” and making it impossible for her to carry on a regular life).
In 2016, she told People magazine “I was in way over my head with the surgeries. I had no idea what I was getting into or that it was a lifelong commitment. It was very challenging, both physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally.” Montag says that she doesn’t “regret” her plastic surgery, but that she would warn other women to think through all of the consequences before going under the knife. Good advice!
11. Farrah Abraham
When Farrah Abraham first stepped on to our TV screens as the wildest of the OG Teen Mom’s, we never had any doubts that she would go on to do some crazy things. And we were right. The teen mom/adult film star/entrepreneur has made her fair share of headlines, but it’s her continuous plastic surgery that we seem to hear the most about. So far, Farrah’s copped up to having her nose done, chin implants, and not one, but two boob jobs. After increasing her cup size the second time, Farrah had a pretty infamous nip slip at a Las Vegas pool party, and took a lot of flack for it, but the backlash hasn’t seemed to slow her down, and really we’re all just sitting here waiting to see what she’ll do next.
10. Lisa Rinna
It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that the majority of the Real Housewives have had plastic surgery (there are several of them on this list). But Lisa Rinna has quite possibly had the most done. It’s undeniable that the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star looks totally different than she did in the early stages of her career, but the most she’ll admit to having done is a breast augmentation, a little botox, and some lip injections.
In 2013, she told Hoda Kotb during an appearance on the Today show, “Here’s the story: 25 years ago I had my lips injected with silicone. Stupid thing to do at 24. I saw Beaches. I did it with my best girlfriend, so she and I go and we get our lips done. Fine. I have it like that for my whole career, right? So then cut to a couple of years ago, I have a doctor remove as much as they possibly can because it got to a point where they were yucky.”
9. Kim Zolciak
We told you Lisa Rinna wasn’t the only housewife to have had work done. Kim Zolciak Bierman, of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has admitted to having both a tummy tuck and a breast augmentation. We don’t blame her — the woman has had six babies which we’re sure does quite a number on your body. In a selfie she posted to Instagram, that highlighted all the impressive work she’d had done, Kim said, “I’m so thankful for my tatas that @drhochstein did!!! I breastfed alllll 6 of my babies and he turned them back into my 16yr old tatas if not better!!”
8. Jamie Lee Curtis
Honestly, this one shocked us a little bit. Don’t get us wrong, Jamie Lee Curtis looks really good for her age, but we always just assumed it was good genes or something. Well, it turns out that she’s had a couple of “nips and tucks,” although she’s not really an advocate of going under the knife these days. She told More magazine, “I’ve done it all. I’ve had a little plastic surgery. I’ve had a little lipo. I’ve had a little Botox. And you know what? None of it works. None of it.” The actress, and former ‘80s aerobics instructor has been open about her struggles with addiction to painkillers after beginning her cosmetic surgery path and is vocal about letting young women know that none of it is worth it or necessary. She’s adamant that growing old and looking old is just fine, and that natural aging can be beautiful in itself.
We want to just give Cher’s attitude towards plastic surgery a standing ovation. While we all love to know what our favorite celebrities have had done, we would totally agree that it’s really none of our business and definitely not our place to judge. In an interview with ABC in 2002, after enduring a grueling line of questioning about her body alterations, Cher said: “If I want to put tits on my back, it’s nobody’s business but my own.” YES, GIRL! Still, Cher’s admitted to having a nose job, filler and Botox, and will be the first to say that her youthful appearance has been helped along by the hands of some talented doctors.
6. Jane Fonda
Jane Fonda has always been outspoken. So it’s not surprising that she candidly wrote about her plastic surgery on her blog in 2010. She wrote: “Bob Evans complimented me on my new, short haircut, and I said: ‘Thanks. I just had some ‘work’ done on my chin and neck and had the bags taken away from under my eyes so I decided it would be good to get a new hair cut so people will think it’s my new hair.’ He thought that was so funny he actually toasted me for doing what he said he’d never heard anyone do before: admit they’d had work done. I was planning on blogging about it anyway, so who cares? Now, I look more like how I feel. I’m glad I did it.” Literally someone get this woman’s plastic surgeon an award because the work looks super natural!
5. Lisa Kudrow
Courteney Cox isn’t the only Friends alumn to have gone under the knife. Her former co-star Lisa Kudrow told The Saturday Evening Post that the rhinoplasty she had has a 16-year-old was “life-altering.” “I went from, in my mind, hideous, to not hideous. I did it the summer before going to a new high school, so there were plenty of people who wouldn’t know how hideous I looked before. That was a good, good, good change.” We’re sure Lisa was just as stunning before the nose fix, but we’re always here for women doing whatever it takes to feel empowered. So more power to ya, Lisa!
4. Chrissy Teigen
In true form, everyone’s favorite celeb Chrissy Teigen has had probably the weirdest and funniest plastic surgery out of anyone on our list. She told Refinery21 about it all: “I had an armpit sucked out, which was one of the best things. It’s a big secret, but I don’t care. It was nine years ago or so. And I had two inches to my armpit. Now it’s back though, so now I’ve gotta pay for [liposuction] again. It was so easy. It made me feel better in dresses, I felt more confident. It was the dumbest, stupidest thing I’ve ever done. The dumbest, but I like it, whatever. I have no regrets, honestly.”
3. Cardi B
We love Cardi B because she honestly gives zero f*cks — like ever — and makes no apologies for anything that she chooses to do. That includes the plastic surgery she’s had. She’s been open about her breast augmentation as far back as her Love & Hip Hop: New York days. But more recently she’s also opened up about the (illegal) injections she’s had in her butt. “In order to get lipo, where they put the fat transfer in your ass and it gets bigger, you need to have fat. I did not have no type of fat,” she said. “But I was desperate to have a bigger ass.” She’s also alluded to the fact that she’s planning on taking time off, before her wedding to Offset, in order to “take care of her nose.” With Cardi, nothing she could do would surprise us at this point.
2. Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner could stand to take a page from her mom’s book and be more upfront with her fans about the work she’s had done. We’ve watched her grow up from a cute, freckle-faced ten-year-old to a stunning 20-something, but there definitely came a point in time where the changes in her face and body weren’t all natural ones. After months of speculation from fans, she finally admitted on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians to getting lip fillers, in an attempt to boost her self-confidence over something she’s always been self-conscious about. But while many eagle-eyed fans are certain she’s also had a boob job, she’s never confirmed it.
1. Kris Jenner
When every single moment of your life is documented, it would be incredibly hard to keep any amount of plastic surgery a secret. Which is probably exactly why Kris Jenner has been so open about the times she’s gone under the knife. On an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kris had her earlobes reduced after despairing over their size. (Did you know that was a thing? We didn’t. And now we’re honestly a little worried about whether or not ours are too big…) She also had an entire facelift done in another episode. We’ve got to admit she looks damn good for a 60-year-old.
