Blake Colin Lewis was born on July 21, 1981 and is an American singer, songwriter, and beatboxer with an estimated net worth of $600 thousand. He was born to Dallas and Dinah Lewis and grew up in Bothell, Washington, a small town in the Seattle area. Blake began singing at only age 5 and was also very interested in playing the drums from an early age.
At school, Blake was part of choir groups in junior high and high school. He also took part in competitions and tours with school groups. He performed onstage acting and singing in musicals and comedies. Everything he had he invested into music and the performing arts.
At the age of 17 Blake began beatboxing. He was initially inspired by Matthew Selby, a former member of the Los Angeles a capella group M-Pact, but also other beatboxing artists as well. In 1998, he joined the group Kickshaw. They toured together for 5 years and Blake can be heard beatboxing on their recording Put It In the Microphone.
When Lewis auditioned for American Idol in Seattle, Washington he did not know whether or not he would be accepted. In his audition he performed Seal’s “Crazy” and his beatboxing made appearances multiple times on the show’s season. The most the beatboxing took place was in a complete reworking of Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name.” Through his hard work, he made it to American Idol’s finale as one of the final two contestants.
