About Aurangzeb
The sixth Mughal emperor, Muhi-ud-Din Muhammad, also known as Aurangzeb, reigned from 3 November 1618 to 3 March 1707 and is thought to have had a fortune of $250 billion. Gujarat, India is where Aurangzeb was born. He was Shah Jahan’s third child and the Mughal emperor. The Taj Mahal is claimed to have been modelled after Mumtaz Mahal, whose name means “jewel of the palace,” who was the mother of Aurangzeb.
Aurganzeb was known for two things throughout his life: his steadfast adherence to Islam and his desire to rule as emperor.
Early Courageous Display
Aurangzeb shown his bravery in the face of peril from a young age. Aurangzeb galloped toward an elephant that was stampeding through his father’s court and struck it with a lance. Following this daring display, Shah Jahan gave Aurangzeb command over an army of almost 14,000 soldiers.
A Conflict Among Brothers
For Mughal princes, it wasn’t always the case that the eldest son would inherit the throne; instead, the emperor’s sons would raise armies and contend with one another for the position. Having executed his siblings and imprisoned his father in his palace in Agra, Aurangzeb proved to be the most ruthless and militarily adept ruler in history.

Hinduism and Islam have historically split India along religious lines. Aurangzeb, a devoted Muslim, rejected religious tolerance, in contrast to his father and earlier emperors. He executed anyone he thought was opposed to his ideas and ordered the destruction of several Hindu temples.
Aurangzeb maintained his military dominance throughout his time as emperor despite his hatred for religion. Aurangzeb extended Mughal sovereignty throughout thousands of miles of India by extending it both north and south.
Death and Destruction
Even if his military feats were successful, Aurangzeb’s severe treatment of Hindus started to incite uprisings as India was pushed to its breaking point.
The Mughal empire started to fall apart after Aurangzeb’s 88-year-old death in 1707, when his son Bahadur Shah was unable to continue his father’s rule.
