On 10/24/99, Overeem made his successful MMA debut, defeating Ricardo Fyeet at It’s Showtime with a guillotine choke. He then fell to Yuriy Kochkine in his subsequent match for the Rings organization by decision. Prior to being contacted by the PRIDE Fighting Championships, Overeem had a 10-3 record, largely competing in ring and 2H2H matches.
