Adel Emam is a popular Egyptian actor who started his stage career in the 1960s but became increasingly famous in 80s thanks to his comedy-romance movies. Some of his more important appearances were in the movies The Danish Experience (2003) The Beggar (1983) Al Halfout (1985) Salam Ya Sahby (1987). He belongs to the richest Egyptian actors of all time. As of 2023, Adel Emam’s net worth is estimated to be $50 million. He is also a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR.
Adel was born May 17, 1940 in El Mansoura, Egypt. He studied at Cairo University. His first plays were Ana Wa Howa Wa Heya and Al-Nassabeen. In 1979, after having struggled finding acceptable roles, he was cast in his first movie role. He played the role of Jabir in We’re from the Bus. Some of his later films include Owner of Happiness, The Fortune-teller, and Alzheimer’s.
United Nations appointed Emam in 2000 to be a Goodwill Ambassador for UNHCR. This is a prestigious but challenging role. Emam focuses on issues mostly relating to refugees and displacement through crisis.
